Our story

Filipino and American. Family first.

Phil-Am was founded in Houston by Ryan and Rochelle Peters. The name is who we are, and the tagline, People Over Dollars, is how every agent here is expected to work.

How it started

[FOUNDING STORY, paragraph 1: how Ryan and Rochelle started the agency, what they saw in the industry that they wanted to do differently.]

[FOUNDING STORY, paragraph 2: who Phil-Am was built to serve, the Filipino-American community and the Houston families it grew from, and how that grew to 39 states.]

[FOUNDING STORY, paragraph 3: what People Over Dollars means in practice. A specific example of telling a client not to buy something.]

What the logo means

The dark blue and light blue are Phil-Am and Insurance. The sun is from the Philippine flag. The two reds are the red of the Philippine flag and the red of the American flag, side by side. It is a family crest as much as a logo.

How we work

  • Independent. We represent many carriers and compare across them.
  • Free to you. Carriers pay us; your premium is the same either way.
  • Yearly reviews. Plans change, so we check yours every fall.
  • Three languages. English, Spanish and Tagalog, on staff.
